Thus, his Serenade for Strings, based on old Graz contra dances, and his Rhapsody for Violin and Strings, based on Hungarian melodies, are light and entertaining. The Concerto for Piano, String Orchestra and Percussion is much more modern, dramatic and closer to Bartok. The corner movements are highly virtuosic and become very attractive in this recording. The middle movement, a Fantasia is also exciting and worth discovering. In contrast to the other works on this CD, the Passacaglia is a relatively somber work and brings further color to this program in an interpretation that is at times lyrical and elegiac, at times bouncy…” ****
